Best Buy- Striving With Sustainability

Best Buy, a client I have worked with for the past few years on their corporate wide Environmental Management System implementation, was recently highlighted by writer Marc Gunther for their sustainability efforts in the face of adversity. The company has faced a number of issues lately, from increased competition from Wal-Mart and Amazon, to a controversial shake-up in top management.

In the article, Marc does a great job of highlighting a that even if a company is facing internal and external challenges, commitment to environmental improvement is a key business objective. This is demonstrated through their e-waste recycling program, one of the largest in the country. This is driving customers to their stores and increasing sales.

The e-waste program also makes a modest profit! How’s that for ROI?

Give it a read.
